ℹ️ Why is the black XL but colors are standard? Epson designed the 232 series so only the black cartridge has an XL high-yield option. The color cartridges (cyan, magenta, yellow) are only available in standard yield for this printer series. This is how Epson sells this cartridge family — there is no 232XL color version.

How to Install Epson 232XL Ink Cartridges
- Turn on the printer — Make sure your Epson printer is powered on before you begin.
- Open the printer cover — Lift the scanner unit until it locks in the open position. The print head will move to the replacement position.
- Release the old cartridge — Press the tab at the end of the cartridge you are replacing and pull it straight out. Set aside for recycling.
- Unpack the new cartridge — Remove from its sealed packaging. Do not shake or squeeze.
- Remove the protective tape — Peel off the yellow or orange tape from the nozzle area. Do not touch the ink nozzles or the metal contacts on the side.
- Insert the cartridge — Match each cartridge to its color-labeled slot. Press firmly until it clicks into place.
- Repeat for each cartridge — Install all cartridges you are replacing before closing the cover.
- Close the printer cover — Lower the scanner unit completely. The printer will initialize and run an automatic alignment.
- Run a nozzle check — Print a test page to confirm all colors are printing correctly.
Color printing too light or unreadable? Run a printhead cleaning cycle from your printer's Maintenance menu (Home → Setup → Maintenance → Head Cleaning). If the issue persists after 2–3 cleaning cycles, contact Linford support — all cartridges are covered by our Lifetime Warranty.
FAQs
Q: Why is the black cartridge 232XL but the color cartridges are 232 (standard)? Epson only offers the XL high-yield version for the black cartridge in the T232 series. The cyan, magenta, and yellow cartridges are only available in standard yield (140 pages each). This is Epson's standard configuration for these printers — not a limitation of Linford's product.
Q: What is the difference between Epson 232 and 232XL? Both fit the same printers. The 232XL is high-yield for black ink only (380 pages vs. ~150 pages for the standard 232 black). Color cartridges are the same standard yield in both packs (140 pages each). If you print a lot of text, the 232XL black offers better value per page.
Q: Will remanufactured cartridges void my Epson printer warranty? No. Under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, Epson cannot void your printer warranty solely because you used a remanufactured or third-party ink cartridge.
Q: My color prints look faded after installing new cartridges. What should I do? Run 2–3 printhead cleaning cycles from your printer's Maintenance menu. New remanufactured cartridges sometimes need a cleaning cycle to establish proper ink flow. If quality does not improve, contact Linford support for a free replacement under our Lifetime Warranty.
Q: How long can I store unused cartridges? Linford Epson 232XL cartridges have a shelf life of 18–24 months when stored in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Each cartridge is individually sealed to preserve ink quality.
Q: Can I use just one color cartridge if only one color is empty? Yes. Each cartridge in this pack can be installed individually. You do not need to replace all four at once.
